lyrics

A lot of bands active nowadays try to build a significant web presence
if only to distract from the fact of their innate averageness
Their desperation to reach out to the legions of inattentive kids
contrary to their attitude on stage and I'm a little sick
of seeing bands with bored expressions, trying to act like they don't care
then checking out their facebook page and all the contradictions there
the professional photos, video blogs and the links to all their twitter feeds
badly-written reviews of gigs you played, you're a slave to the publicity

Though I must admit that I enjoyed your beats
I have no desire to follow your tweets
You should just be happy with attendance at your gigs
Without having to subject us to any of this
bullshit
And just because I came to see you play
Doesn't mean I want to 'like' your facebook page

I understand you're trying to 'make it big' and accessibility plays a part
but complete transparency tends to remove the possibility of art
Though you might've read a book or two on ways to generate your band's 'buzz'
there's a difference between you're told will work and what actually does
You can throw your instruments around, rage against the corporate machine
but if your demeanour changes as soon as you're behind a computer screen
then whatever cause you might have had is rendered null and void
the desperation takes a hold of you and the image is destroyed

Though I must admit that I enjoyed your beats
I have no desire to follow your tweets
You should just be happy with attendance at your gigs
Without having to subject us to any of this
bullshit
And just because I came to see you play
Doesn't mean I want to 'like' your facebook page

Don't get me wrong, aggressive self-promotion sometimes can be fine
but make sure your music's worth a shit before you spend that time
for a band with no recorded work for us to listen to
you sure do post a lot of shit about the equipment you use
and I don't care, I don't care I don't care I don't care I don't care
I don't care I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
your band is average anyway
I don't care, I don't care, I don't care
I don't care I don't care
I don't care
I don't care, I don't care I don't care
I don't care I don't care
